ABOUT ME
Expert Care in Grief &
Trauma Healing
My undergraduate degree is in education, but I worked mostly as a stay-at-home mom while my four children were young. My decision to become a therapist came about from an opportunity to lead a group of mothers of preschoolers. The group was intended to be a source of support for those in the throes of raising young children, but it became so much more. In addition to sharing advice about child-rearing, it became a safe place for people to share their personal struggles and heartache as well. I knew immediately that this was the kind of work I wanted to do as a second career.
It took many years for me to make my dream a reality. I went to graduate school in my early 50’s at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, and I did my clinical training at Hospice Austin as a bereavement counselor. I continue to work part-time at Hospice Austin as a bereavement counselor for individuals, couples and families, and as a group facilitator while building my private practice. I feel so honored to be doing the work I love by continuing to create safe places for people to share their heartache and find healing.
